Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, Coach Dru has been around the game of basketball for as long as he can remember. Whether it was backyard ball, sharing the hardwood with LeBron James, or playing collegiate and professional ball, Coach Dru has developed a feel for the game like no one else. Coach Dru started his coaching career at Cleveland State under Head Coach Dennis Gates (current Head Coach for Missouri) after retiring from an illustrious professional playing career overseas. Following his tenure at Cleveland State, Coach took his talents to his new home, Duquesne University. As a Duke, Coach became Associate Head Coach under long-time mentor Keith Dambrot. Following the 23-24 campaign, Coach Dru was a key part of the Dukes being crowned Atlantic 10 Champions. The 2023-2024 Dukes team went on a historic run, taking down the 6-seeded BYU in the First Round of March Madness and breaking a postseason drought that lasted 47 years. Following the season, Keith Dambrot retired and was succeeded by none other than Coach Dru. Heading into his second season at the helm, the Dukes look to be crowned A10 Champions once more. The Dukes are the master of their own destiny in 2025-2026….
